Austin Sheridan is Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for Glasgow Southside. Austin Sheridan was elected for Glasgow Govan in 2009 then re-elected for the new constituency of Glasgow Southside, that covers most of the former Glasgow Govan seat, in 2011. Austin Sheridan is also a Member of Youth Parliament (UKYP) for Glasgow (Region).
Since then Austin Sheridan has been: Vice Chair of the Glasgow MSYP Group: 2009-2010, Deputy Convener of the SYP External Affairs Committee: 2009-2010, MYP for Glasgow: 2009-2010, Acting Chair of the Glasgow MSYP Group: 2010-2010, Finance spokesman of the Glasgow MSYP Group: 2010-Present, Vice Chair of the Glasgow MSYP Malawi exchange group: 2010-Present, Convener of the SYP External Affairs Committee: 2010-Present and SYP Procedures Group Member: 2010-Present, MYP for Glasgow: 2011-Present
Austin Sheridan has been interested in politics for a long time but only became active in mainstream politics when he Joined the Scottish National Party (SNP) during the Glasgow East by-election in 2008. Since joining the SNP, Austin has been a very active in the party and has hopes to run in council and national elections as an SNP candidate some time in the future. Issues that Austin is passionate about are Social Justice, Equal Rights, Youth Representation and Scottish Independence.

Govan East, Ibrox, Cessnock, Kinning Park, Tradeston, Kingston, Port Eglinton, Laurieston, Gorbals, Hutchesontown, Polmadie, Oatlands, Toryglen, Govanhill, Crosshill, Queens Park, Strathbungo, Pollokshields, Maxwell Park, Dumbreck, Crossmyloof, Shawlands (West of Kilmarnock Road), Waverley Park.

Glasgow Southside was created in the by the Scottish Boundary Commission. It was created from: 60.4% of Glasgow Govan, 31.2% of Glasgow Shettleston, 6.8% of Glasgow Rutherglen and 1.6% of Glasgow Cathcart.
